Brandt Brauer Frick

For many, Brandt Brauer Frick were the angels of peace between heaven and hell. The trio stepped up in 2008 to reconcile techno and classical music. At that time, electronic sounds in new music were already 50 years old, and aging techno legends had had their pieces replayed by orchestras. But things only got exciting when also BBF became interested in the percussive side of instruments, playing electronic music with acoustic instruments, thus bringing groove and the seduction of house rhythms into the classical game. »Kraftwerk in reverse« is what the music magazine Pitchfork called this merging and further thinking of Steve Reich’s Minimal Music and hedonistic club sound. The trio grew to a ten-piece ensemble, composed operas and orchestral works, and conquered major international stages with various guests such as Jamie Lidell, Nina Kraviz and Frank Ocean producer Om’Mas Keith. As rich as their reference spectrum is, and as sophisticated as their arrangements and polyrhythmic interlacings have become in the meantime, the trio’s essence remains the groove; and with a new live show, the three are now focusing on their roots in rave and club culture, back at Kampnagel for the first time since the 2013 Überjazz Festival!
