Gender Medizin

Feminists have been pointing this out for decades; in recent years, the issue has also entered the mainstream: Gender makes a difference when it comes to illness, its symptoms and the right treatment methods. And although this has been known for a long time, nothing changes. Research, development and dosage continues to be done by, on and for cis men. What is also known: socially weaker, less well educated, illegalized people, queer and trans* people, non-white people, and people with disabilities not only have a higher risk of disease, they also receive worse care. They simply do not fit the “prototype human” still constructed in medicine. The thematic focus GENDER-HEALTHCARE. gathers artistic and theoretical perspectives on exclusions in medicine, health and care.
