Dance performance, fashion show or self-portrait? In his SMALL version, Harrell portrays the catwalk as an architectural meeting point of postmodern dance and voguing. First in bright yellow rubber gloves and sneakers, then again in a kitchen apron, he choreographs one look after another, both explicitly and ambiguously, accompanied by an impressive soundtrack. »We all walk around in clothes – it shapes culture, it shapes the body. When I first started this, people didn’t see how it could be serious. And for me, it was such a no-brainer. I didn’t pay attention. I kept marching on.« (Trajal Harrell)
