In the age of globalisation, the city is imperial. It is driven by location fantasies, fears of failure, visions of world cities. With HAMBUR EMPIRE, this imperial city gets a dramatic magazine. Together with every day experts, performers and journalists, the cultural producers Claudia Plöchinger, Christoph Twickel and Martin Kreidt have developed a journalistic spectacle for the stage. PARTEI NEHMEN – that is the title of the HAMBURG EMPIRE’s first work. On the occasion of the civil election in February 2008 we will all preoccupy ourselves with people and their organisations which offer the city its visions and leading qualities. We question ourselves: how’s that for a microcosm; those who say of themselves “We are the future” or “Don’t just hang around stupidly. Become a member!”, who demand “the effective instead of the ideological” and dream of a “creative city”? An evening about engagement, power and political agitation.
