An internet-comment dream journey under the digital night sky of an inflatable planetarium.

In THE GREAT OUTDOORS the New York-based artist Annie Dorsen dedicates herself to the phenomenon of comment threads on the internet in all its depths. Each day, new comments about cat videos, recipes, political news and philosophical questions are collected from chat portals such as reddit and 4chan. Based on anonymous and bodiless comments that their writers type into the unknown depths of cyberspace, a new text is generated by a computer algorithm for each performance. And while the audience is sitting under the digital starry sky of an inflatable planetarium, a storyteller breathes new life into the texts. THE GREAT OUTDOORS is a dream-like journey from the utterly insignificant to the core of political and cultural discourse in the digital age (more about this also in our conference DISRUPTING DEMOCRACY).
