Dreya Mac has reached over 67 million clicks on Spotify alone with her collaborative track »Own Brand Freestyle«. Yet the 21-year-old with the breathtakingly fluid flow has only been releasing her own music since 2020. Mac choreographs her own music videos and dominated the »ForYou« pages on TikTok overnight. Neo-soul and drill beat, vocals and rap are just a step away for Mac – as is the big stage in the near future. Alice Martin aka Älice, on the other hand, has been setting new standards for German-language, female dancehall with the band CHEFBOSS. With »Zebra« she released her debut album as Älice last year. In the rousing flow that can be found on the album, there are not only styles ranging from hip hop to R’n’B to pop, but also unerring lyrics that formulate and demand awareness. In another turn, the trap trio Fo Sho (»For sure«) have stirred up the Ukrainian rap scene with Afrofuturistic tracks – that is until Russia’s war forced these three sisters to flee this year. Their credo: »Hip hop is about groove and it’s a revolution in taste.«
