For years, Kurdish-Iranian journalist Behrouz Boochani was illegally detained on Manus Island, a refugee detention center off the coast of Australia. Laboriously tapped out on a mobile phone during incarceration and translated from Farsi, his book “No Friend but the Mountain” is a voice of witness and an act of survival and resistance. And it is a poetic and vivid first-hand account of six years of incarceration and exile. It was awarded the most important Australian literary prize and served as inspiration for JURRUNGU NGAN-GA, which will be presented at Summer Festival in K6.
