Hamburg’s new hall of fame for Black German Pop Culture, curated by the cool kids of the local cultural scene.

For three weeks, Kampnagel International Summer Festival celebrates the opening of the German Museum
for Black Entertainment and Black Music. Founded by Joana Tischkau, Anta Helena Recke, Elisabeth Hampe and Frieder Blume it is the leading museum for Black German culture and pop history, with an extensive collection of records, magazines, autographs and memorabilia. Curated by Hamburg director Mable Preach and members of the Formation**Now collective, the museum sheds light on Black artists such as Tic Tac Toe, Roberto Blanco and Nadja Abd el Farrag, and the conditions of their careers in a white-dominated entertainment industry. With a focus on Hamburg based artists, a supporting program of concerts, lectures, guided tours, panels and performances forms a dialogue with stars from the past and today, creating a lively space of critical exchange and memory for Black artistic work.

Live-Programm on Thu-11.08. / Sat-13.08. / Sat-20.08. / Sun-21.08. / Sat-27.08. / Sun-28.08. starting at 19:00 (details soon here!)
