A witty, theatrical epiphany dealing with mistakes, misconceptions and misinterpretations ponders the question, what intelligence means?

Back to Back Theatre already put a spell on the audience at Hamburg main station with their work SMALL METAL OBJECTS in 2009 and most recently showed LADY EATS APPLE (2017) at the festival Theater der Welt in Hamburg. Primarily working with disabled protagonists, the company is the first of its kind to win the International Ibsen Award, one of the highest endowed theatre awards. In 2022 Back to Back Theatre will now return to Hamburg with its new play. This time an activists’ conference takes place on stage, with the participants encountering an artificial intelligence, that also plays a main role in the piece. Together they create an emotive debate on socio-political issues, discussing terminologies, questioning social standardization and eventually revealing preconceived notions of the audience. They question what is possible in the realm of theatre, but also presumptions we have of ourselves and others. Situations of vulnerability merge into humorous scenes full of wit, in which Back to Back Theatre calls to mind that nobody’s on their own, as we’re all co-responsible.
