The Decoder Ensemble can no longer be set apart from the Hamburg ‘local heroes’ scene. They describe themselves as a ‘band for current music’ and their line-up, with a singer as a frontwoman and a sound designer as mixing console is actually more reminiscent of rock/pop than classical.
