For his new piece, KIRINA, choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly – working with internationally renowned, Mali-born musician Rokia Traoré – follows the footsteps of a people looking for its future. Touched by the streams of global migration, Coulibaly, who is making his third guest appearance at Kampnagel, explores the challenges of our time, with reference to Senegalese thinker Felwine Sarr. Coulibaly’s unconventional and powerfully elegant movement vocabulary makes him one of the most important voices in West African dance.

» Kirina is a stunning spectacle that combined sweaty, ritualistic and ecstatic dance; propulsive music; and incantatory French-language narration.« The New York Times
» Kirina is a show where everything enchants: the music by Rokia Traoré who takes the guts to the explosive choreography of Serge Aimé Coulibaly and the energy and power of multiple body gestures. « Les Inrocks
