The skid marks on the cover of Lee Ranaldo’s latest album „Electrim Trim“ (design: Richard Prince) may make a reference to an orientation phase after the end of his über-band Sonic Youth, but it is in fact a look back. Lee Ranaldo has long since arrived in his very own universe. Artistically, one of the century’s top guitarists combines experimental indie rock with great pop melodies, North African psychedelia, beats and electronic samples on the album. The New York chronicler and bestseller author Jonathan Lethem cooperated on the texts, and Ranaldo was supported musically by his old colleague, the Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, among others.
