    Kampnagel – KMH

A double concert with L.A.’s rhapsodic one-man typhoon and lùisa, Hamburg’s pop mystic.

Dorian Wood looks like a Latin American heroic tenor, sounds like the son of Tom Waits and Antony Hegarty, and creates music filled with drama and ecstasy. His diverse sound ranges from sad chamber pop to angry gospel-blues hymns. He is an eccentric colossus of a performer, a queer activist operating on the border of visual art. When he was banned from appearing naked during a collaboration with Marina Abramović at MOCA in L.A., he responded with his explicit video to the song “La Cara Infinita.” In his follow up to his 2014 Kampnagel concert, Dorian Wood sings his heart out on the piano at the Summerfestival.

Hamburg’s lùisa works just as intensely. Twentytwo-year-old lùisa’s unconventional songs, shaped by her dark and subtly dramatic voice, are reminiscent of Fiona Apple’s pop creations. Her new album, “Never Own,” was released this May on the innovative Canadian Nettwerk label. This may be the last opportunity for a while to hear lùisa perform as a three-person band in a smaller venue.

Support-Kooperation mit dem Hamburger Musikpreis Krach&Getöse von RockCity und Haspa Musik Stiftung. Präsentiert von 917xfm und Hanseplatte.
